Independent car specialists · Chesterfield

Dealer level.
Independent prices.

Diagnostics, servicing and repair for Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz — carried out to the manufacturer's standard at Fairbank Works, Chesterfield, without the dealership's overheads on your invoice.

The work

Four disciplines.
One standard.

We do fewer things than a fast-fit chain, deliberately. What we do, we do to the level the marque intended — and we put it in writing before we start.

Diagnostics

Fault-finding with the same manufacturer diagnostic platforms the franchised dealers run: full-system scans, guided test plans, live data and control-module coding for each of the four marques we serve.

We diagnose before we quote. No parts fitted on a hunch, no "try this and see" — the fault is identified, evidenced and explained, then you decide.

Software updates, key coding and retrofit coding handled in-house.

Servicing

Manufacturer-schedule servicing to the letter: the correct oil specification, the correct intervals, the items the schedule actually calls for at your mileage — nothing skipped, nothing padded.

Your digital service record is updated with the manufacturer, exactly as a dealer would. Servicing independently is your right under UK block exemption rules, and done properly it leaves your warranty untouched.

Genuine or OE-specification parts as standard, noted on every invoice.

Repair

Mechanical and electrical repair, diagnosis-led: brakes, suspension and steering, cooling systems, clutches and drivetrain, exhausts, and the electrical gremlins prestige cars are prone to as they age.

You get photographs of what we found and a fixed quotation before any work begins. If something can safely wait, we say so — and put it on the record for next time rather than on today's bill.

Inspection

Pre-purchase inspections with a written, photographed report before you commit to a car — the hour that saves you a very expensive year. Seasonal health checks before winter, and before the long run south in summer.

MOT preparation and arrangement handled while the car is with us, with any advisories translated into plain English and an honest view on urgency.

Inspection reports are yours to keep — and to negotiate with.

Dealer level, independent prices

What stays.
What changes.

A franchised dealership and a good independent read the same service schedules, fit parts built to the same specification and run the same diagnostic software. What you are really choosing between is everything around the work.

Answered by
The technicians. There is no service desk.

Fairbank Works sits on the edge of Chesterfield: four bays, a clean floor and no service-desk theatre. It is deliberately small. The person who takes your call is the person who lifts your bonnet, and the same technician sees your car each time it comes back.

Our technicians trained inside franchised dealer networks before choosing independence — the discipline stayed, the overheads didn't. The workshop invests where the dealers do: current diagnostic platforms, marque technical data, and the correct tooling for the cars we serve.

  • One car, one technician

Whoever diagnoses the fault carries out the repair, start to finish.

  • Photographs before opinions

You see what we see — every quotation arrives with the evidence attached.

  • Nothing replaced without a reason

A part comes off your car only when we can show you why it should.
