• The legal maximum. £54.85 is the most any garage in England is allowed to charge for a Class 4 MOT. That's the number, so that's our price.
• No extras. None. No booking fee, no card fee, no “admin”, no while-we're-in-there. £54.85 is the figure you pay on the way out.
• Cut-price? Not here. Cut-price MOTs exist. So do reasons they're cut-price. We charge the fee, we test the car, and that's the whole transaction.

If it fails

You get the fail list in plain English, a price to put it right here if you want one, and a free retest within 10 working days — whether we do the repairs or you sort them yourself. No test-and-trap.

If we can't test it

Bay down, tester off — rare, but machinery happens. You pay nothing and you go to the front of the queue when we're back on.

No 02 — The wait 45 min, with a brew.

• While-you-wait means exactly that. One tester, one bay, your car on it. Booked slots run to time — 45 minutes is the honest average, so allow the hour and be pleasantly surprised.
• The waiting room. Two decent chairs, a working kettle, a biscuit tin of varying fortunes, and a window into the bay so you can watch your own test.
• Or don't wait. Drop the keys at eight, get on with your day, collect when it suits. We'll ring the minute it's done.

No 03 — What we test If it's Class 4, it goes on the ramp.

• Cars.
• Vans up to 3,000 kg.
• Motorhomes & campers.
• Not Class 4? We'll say so. Class 5 minibus or a Class 7 van over three tonnes — we don't test those. Ring anyway and we'll tell you exactly who does.

• The car. Ideally the one the MOT's for.
• The keys. Left on the kitchen table more often than you'd think.
• Fuel and oil in it. Enough of both to run the emissions check. A dashboard lit up like Blackpool is worth a phone call before you set off.
• No paperwork. The tester works from the number plate. Bring the V5C only if the plate's just changed or the vehicle's fresh into the country.

No 05 — How it goes Ring. Drive in. Drive off.

1. Ring

   01632 960 077. Twenty seconds. Say when suits — first slot's 8am, last one's an hour before close. Mornings go first.

2. Land

   Five minutes early does it. Keys to the desk, kettle's on your left, forecourt parking's free.

3. Tested

   The full Class 4 inspection, about 45 minutes. Watch through the glass or read the paper — your call.

4. Result

   Pass: certificate printed, you're away. Fail: a plain-English rundown of what and why, a price to put it right, and nothing touched until you say the word.

Due-date maths

You can test up to a month, minus a day, before your MOT runs out and keep the same renewal date. Ring with your reg and we'll check the date while you're on the phone — or look it up yourself at gov.uk/check-mot-status.

No 07 — Straight answers No commission. No pressure.

• Nobody here is paid to fail you

  The tester earns the same whether your car passes or not. A fail buys nobody a bonus, so the only thing being judged is the car.

• A fail is not a sales pitch

  You get the list, a price if you ask for one, and the free retest window either way. Fix it here, at home, or at your brother-in-law's — the retest stays free.

• DVSA rules, to the letter
